The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has announced that two RTL bus routes in Malé have resumed their original operations following the completion of expansion and renovation works on the northern side of Boduthakurufaanu Magu.
The road has now been officially reopened to traffic, allowing RTL bus routes R10 (Orchid Route) and R12 (Sosun Route) to return to their permanent routes via Boduthakurufaanu Magu from Tuesday, 29 July 2026.
According to MTCC, the reopening marks the end of the temporary route diversions that had been introduced while the road was closed for construction. Passengers requiring additional information on the route changes have been advised to contact the company’s hotline on 1650.
The expansion of the northern section of Boduthakurufaanu Magu is one of the major infrastructure projects undertaken by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s administration to improve traffic flow in the capital. The upgraded road is expected to ease congestion and enhance connectivity within Malé.
The Boduthakurufaanu Magu project forms part of a wider effort to modernise the capital’s road network and improve public transport. During the construction period, several RTL bus services were diverted to alternative routes to minimise disruptions for commuters.
